Sri. U. Ve. Elayavilli Sriram Swami, AlwarThirunagari
Born in Kancheepuram with the blessings of Kanchi Varadharaja Perumal and Perundevi Thaayar, on 18th December 1972, as the son of Sri U.Ve. Mahavidwan Elayavilli Srinivasa Bhuvarahachariar Swami and Smt. Shanthalakshmi ammangar, and Grandson of Sri Sookthi Rathnakaram, Sri. U.Ve. Elayavilli Satakopachariar Swami, Sri. U. Ve. Elayavilli Sriram swami belongs to Alwar Thirunagari, the holy birth place of Swami Nammalwar, in Tirunelveli district in South Tamilnadu.
The respected swami hails from an illustrious family of 74 Acharya Purushas appointed by Swami Sri Ramanujar,namely Elayavilli Aachan, who was the cousin of Sri Ramanujar.
Sri.U .Ve . Elayavilli Sriram Swami studied upto B.Sc., and mastered graphic arts and worked as a graphic designer in an illustrious advertising firm. Along with that he studied Vedic scriptures, Itihasa puranas, Divya prabhandhams, the stotras of poorvacharyas and rahasya granthas with commentaries under the guidance of his learned father Sri.U.Ve. Elayavilli Srinivasa Bhuvarachariar Swami.
He has learnt all Rahasya Granthas namely Mumukshupadi, Srivachana Bhushanam, Thathvathrayam,Acharya Hrudayam, Bhagavat Vishayam( Eedu) etc., from his father in the
traditional kalakshepam method. Afterwards he started kalakshepams i.e., reading the commentary of poorvacharyas on divya prabhanda pasurams and explaining it in simple and easily understandable tamil language which was attended by well reputed audience and very well appreciated for more than 20 years.
Now-a-days very few scholars follow this method of kalakshepam,i.e., having mastered the moola granthas and the commentaries very well under an Acharya and then deliver kalakshepams. Sriraman swami has the unique fortune of learning these scriptures by the kalakshepam methods and then conducts the kalakshepam with accuracy. He is an Acharya Purusha and Theerthakarar in the temple of Swami Nammazhwar at Alwar Thirunagari enjoying all honours.
Sri. U. Ve. Elayavilli Sriram Swami has given numerous discourses in Srivaishnava religious subjects across India and especially in Bangalore,
Chennai, Trichy, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata. He is very much sought after for giving Tiruppavai discourse in the month of Margazhi. So far he has given more than 20 Tiruppavai discourses.
He was conducting “Thirumaalai” kalakshepam at Bangalore and its satrumarai was held at Srirangam Sri Koorathazhwan Sannidhi in the august presence of all the Acharya purushas and learned scholars of Srirangam. He conducted discourses on “Siriya Thirumadal” through internet.
He was conducting kalakshepam on “Mudhal Tiruvandhathi” at Yadhugiri Yathiraja Jeeyer Mutt, Bangalore which came to conclusion at Tirukovalur under the presidentship of Sri.U.Ve. Tirukovalur Emperumanar Jeeyar Swami and blessed by his Holiness Sri.U.Ve. Tirukurungudi Jeeyar Swami and Yadhugiri Ethiraja Jeeyar Swami at the holy shrine of Lord Thiruvikrama at Thirukkovilur, where the prabandham, Mudal Thiruvandhanthi was born.
He has attracted a large number of audience by his eloquence scholarship and lucidity of style. He was conducting Kalakshepam at Yadhugiri Yathiraja Jeeyar Swami Mutt, Malleswaram, Bangalore on Ramanuja Nootranthandhi for 4 days every month for the past 10 years and its Satrumarai was held at Alwarthirunagari Sri Bhavishyathachariyar Sannidhi (Sri Ramanujar Sannidhi),on the memorable occasion of Sri Ramanuja’s 1000th year celebrations ,which was honoured by SEVEN holy Srivaishnava Jeeyar Swamis and several Sampradaya Vidhwans.
His son Sri. U. Ve. Elayavilli Satajit Swami is also very popular who is giving discourses in several places under the able guidance of his father Sri.U.Ve. Elayavilli Sriram Swami. He is conducting divya prabhandam classes at his Tirumaaligai(residence) for a number of children and their parents.
He dared to choose to return to his village to preach Vaishnavism leaving behind all the comforts the world could offer. For Elayavilli Sriram Swami what could be contributed to life to make it worthy mattered more than what could be derived from it.
Later due to his responsibility and commitment at Alwarthirunagari he couldn’t travel out of Alwarthirunagari. So he started rendering discourses through online. He rendered Prapanna Parithranam, Kanninun Siruthambu, Tiruppallandu, Amalanadhipiran explicitly in online.
Now he is rendering Tiruvaimozhi Kalakshepam through Free conference which is well received across the world.He has entirely devoted his life for the service of Sri Andaal and Rangamannar at his Tirumaaligai (residence) and Swami Nammazhwar at Alwar Thirunagari and primarily Acharya Kainkaryam, having relinquished all other lucrative jobs including foreign invitations.
